Kirche und Altstadt Baden on Flickr.Last Week has been a pretty intense week for me, if you look at it photographically. I got my Lumix GH2, and this also meant dropping the Mirror as a Main Camera for the first time in almost seven years. I went from DSLR to MFT and as for now I am perfectly happy and think, that this has been the right choice.
I’ve been shooting more than most of the time before, and I’ve gotten pretty nice results from shooting street in Zurich and doing Rimlights with my friends. I am also planning for Action Shots, but this has to wait until my exams are done.
Honestly, this year has so far been the year I made the most progress in: I started to shoot 120 seriously, I started to process B&W and Color at home, I got into shooting with flashes, I travelled to a country I would have never gone to, because of Photography.
I guess my processes and workflow have gotten better, more efficient and more satisfying.
Now it’s the middle of November already and the time of reviewing the past year has come and I think I will post some of my favorite shots in chronological Order over the next 1,5 months.
Dear friends and followers, my blog, my content and my photography would not be what it is today if you would not be here. If you would not pay attention, my audience and my exposure would be smaller. I’m grateful for every bit of feedback and wanted to say thank you for sticking with me.
To start the review, I give you the City of Baden, shot at January 2nd 2012. My first self-processed 120 Film, i guess my favorite City shot that I have ever done.

The red thingy on the right still disturbs me but gives a sample of how tight the range was actually, because i did not really have room to move a little more to the left. Love the picture, the moment, the scenery. One thing could have been better: the weather. from my official assignment for www.hilljam.ch

I got rid of my old chemicals and finally got to do a new batch. Now I will have to order new chemicals in a few weeks, but more important, I run out of sleeves for 35mm film. So I will have to order at the time I’m about to finish the next 35mm roll. Well, I hope I have a bit of money until then.
This shot turned out great, I think. The sky looks amazing and the mirror stretches the picture like an ultra wide angle lens. And of course, I love pictures with me in it. ;)

This is another treasure I found in my old flickr stuff. Lukas Junk popping out his Nosegrind in Schwarzenbach a.d. Saale/Germany in May 2009. This was an afternoon in the skatepark during the Fingerboard World Championsships 2009. One of the greatest fingerboardrelated weekends in my book.

I have upgraded to flickr pro yesterday and spent some time going trough my old pictures and sorting them into sets and so on. This set caught my eye and memories, because it was a sick day. Alex is a talented skateboarder and one day in october 2008 we went shooting together. 2 Skaters, 2 Photographers and one filmer. The second photographer was the owner of our local Skateshop. The day was amazing because we scouted spots and the two riders did their tricks while we tried to capture the best angles and moments. This shot is one of my faves.

I just mounted my lightning stuff for a second go this evening to get a bit deeper into the science of flashing. Actually, if you think a little bit before you shoot, you will get almost everything right first try. This was shot with my EOS 350D (I’ve been enjoying this gems company for the last six years, and I hope I will still be using it when I get my 5D MKII, as a second body, but nontheless), an EF f1.8/50mm lens on f1.8, 100 ASA and 1/125. Flash was a Nikon SB800 on Manual. Let me know what you think about it, please. By the way, I guess it is known that I have a passion for fresh sneakers and I could really imagine shooting product pictures for a cool shoebrand. This was, what I thought when I was looking at the Raw in PS.
